My First Taste of 2013 Allen and Ginter

I've never been crazy about this brand, but I bought some because I still can't find the new Pinnacle in any stores.  I got a few rack packs in the hope of pulling some crazy awesome autograph or a rare Griffey parallel.  Did that happen?  No.

Let's get the reams of not-baseball cards out of the way:

I know it sounds weird, but of these two I was more excited about Penny Marshall.  Remember Laverne and Shirley?

These are for trade.

These are also for trade.

I know what you're thinking: where are all the baseball cards?  Well, I'm thinking the same thing.

These are little for some reason.  They're all for trade.

Ah, baseball cards!  I'm excited because I barely got any.  I'm more excited about real cards of normal size, though I know people seem to prefer the tiny ones.

Two big PC's of mine.  Glad to see Vida Blue get so many great cards recently.

Got a Griffey!

The backs of these tell us other famous folks who share birthdays with the subject of each card.  Griffey has one that blew me away: Dr. John, Mr. Mac Rebennack aka The Night Tripper.  He is one of the greatest living New Orleans musicians and just made an album with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.  Here's my signed copy of that new album:

If you ever get a chance to see him live, go get it done.  Also grab a copy of his album Desitively Bonnaroo.  It inspired one of America's biggest music festival dynasties and is also damn good for parties.

Back to the cards: I pulled the Griffey, Clark and Vida all from the same rack pack, and it was the first pack.  That means every pack thereafter was a total letdown.  Still, there's so many Griffey parallels left to get.  Sigh.
