Wallet Card Wednesday: Lego Edition

There's a girl in the French Quarter who sells nothing but Lego minifigs; and in addition to having an extremely impressive selection of figures, she's also pretty cute.

I feel like the very meaningful conversation she and I would have had about Legos was being prevented by that guy in the black t-shirt. Someone preventing someone else from having a good Lego conversation with a third person is called "block-blocking." He block-blocked me.

This photo was taken in Dallas, TX at some big mall there. This business, called "Legoland Discovery Center," probably should have been called "Lego Store." because that's what it was. I should mention, though, that while it did not have as big a selection as the Lego section of the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square, it does have a significantly bigger selection than the Lego Store at Rockefeller Center.

Sadly, I just don't have the space for this.

  1. The LEGO elitist in me has to point out that the more commonly-used term for LEGO pieces is 'bricks' rather than 'blocks.' So, 'brick-blocking' would be a more appropriate term for what black shirt guy is doing. If you reference bricks rather than blocks in your conversation, then the cute vendor gal will know you're part of the club and not just pretending to like LEGO because you want to talk to her.

  2. That mini figure selection is slightly devoid of LEGO Star Wars figures (I see R2D2, some clone troopers, maybe an umbara trooper and that's it).

  3. I'm not single anymore but If I was,and I was trying to get that girls attention and that guy brick blocked me like that,I would have shown him my many degrees of black belts and went absolutely Texas Walker Ranger on his arse.Actually no,I would have probably just walked away sadly, with my head down.Especially since I don't know Karate and I'm a pretty laid back cat :(

  4. That Kwik-E-Mart is sweet. Those things gotta run like a couple hundred bucks though, right?

    1. It is $200 for that kit. It's a heckuva kit, though.

  6. Turning my attention to the minifigs on display, there are a ton of them that I 'need.' The problem with buying minifigs is that the popular ones cost almost as much as the sets they come with, so you might as well just buy the set and get all the pieces, too. The Thing from the Fantastic Four (in the upper right of the first photo) is a knockoff, as no Fantastic Four LEGO have been released due to licensing fights. We wind up buying the bootleg Thing figures because our sons are named after Thing, Hulk, and Wolverine, so to keep them from fighting we need figures of all their namesakes.
