Who Signed My Dad's Ball?

My dad had this ball signed at an old-timers' game many years ago.  He has since let me hold on to it, so I got a plastic case and put it up on a shelf with my little league trophies and my Carnival Triumph Movie Trivia Champion trophy.

I know half the signatures on it, and I have guesses for the rest.  Any help would be appreciated if you have experience with any of these guys' signatures.  Thanks for taking a look......

Clearly first-ballot Hall of Famer Bob Feller, The Heater from Van Meter.

Obviously the great Hall of Famer Larry Doby.

Definitely Six-time Series Champ John Sain who pitched with Warren Spahn.
The other appears to be Marvelous Marv Throneberry, but I'm not positive.

This looks like Don Kerecomby, but could it be Don Newcombe?

I'm guessing Jake Gibbs, but it looks like Jake Gilch.

If you recognize any of the questionable signatures here, let me know in the comments below.  Thanks!

  1. You are spot on with the first five. I am leaning towards Gibbs on the last one but I'm not certain.

  2. I don't think it's Gibbs. Check out my Gibbs autos...seems like his B's are pronounced and his "s" trails off and doesn't come back into the signature.

  4. Priceless. Very cool ball. Even cooler that it was passed down to you by your father.
