$1600 to Spend on the 'Bay - What Would You Buy?

There's a fun post/contest over at Drop the Gloves! that asks what you would spend a hypothetical $1600 buying on eBay.  Believe it or not, it's not just Griffeys for me.  Here's my list:

Let's see yours!

  1. Okay, there is a TON for me to say here.

    1. If I had a blog growing up in the early 90s, this would have been it. Griffey was my man. I had nearly every possible release from '89 to '93 and I'm talking about regional stuff, unlicensed stuff, posters, Star sets, candy bars, shirts...you name it, I had it. I even had a Griffey guy in Tacoma that I ordered stuff from. Mind you, this was pre-Internet. He had an ad in the back of an SCD or something and I called him. me, a 13 year old calling a random adult dude across the country. Anyways, I am glad you found my blog because now I have found YOUR blog.

    2. The first pack of 89 UD I ever bought, I pulled a Griffey. I immediately traded it for another pack of UD because it was UPPER freakin' DECK! The hype then was unreal and Griffey wasn't yet Griffey yet. The hot rookie was Sheffield.

    3. The Ted Williams card is a steal at under $250, IMO.

    4. RON KITTLE! In my Strat-O-Matic days (not sure if you know what it is), Kittle was such a monster that we had to come up with special rules for using him in the game.

  2. ALways good to meet another Griffey fan. I also pulled a Griffey from a pack of '89 UD - I'll never forget it. I'd like to relive that excitement someday....

And I don't know what Strat-O-Matic is, but I do love Mr. Kittle.

    I just looked up Strat-o-Matic - I'm intrigued....

  3. Once you go down the rabbit hole that is Strat-O-Matic, you'll never find your way back to reality. My uncle, his friend, and myself are replaying the 1970 season right now and it is a blast.
